Step 1 · Understand the System

Start with the Conquer System.

Watch the process first. Then follow the steps below in order: check porosity, choose the correct system, follow the dilution instructions, apply the bond, and finish with the shield.

How porous is your substrate?

Before choosing Clean & Seal, Hone & Seal, or Grind & Seal, start with a simple water test. It tells you how open the concrete is and which prep path makes the most sense.

Step 3 · Assess Your Slab

Your slab determines the system.

Traditional polished concrete can require heavy grinding, specialized equipment, and a bigger budget. The BallistiX approach gives DIYers and budget-conscious homeowners a smarter way to get a clean, glossy, polished-style finish by first identifying how porous the slab is.

Water test on concrete slab
Step 1: Assess Your Concrete Lightly spritz water on your slab and watch the clock.
Step 4 · Porosity Check

Check the slab before you install.

The faster water disappears, the more open and porous your slab is. Use the result to choose the right system before applying product.

See step 3: Dilution.
The dilution changes between systems, so always follow the Step 3 instruction for the slab you are treating.
Water beading on tight concrete slab

Tight Slab

Water beads for 30+ seconds

The concrete is tight and does not absorb quickly. This is where the Clean & Seal system is the right fit.

Water slowly absorbing into concrete

Semi-Porous

Water dissipates in 15-30 seconds

The slab has some absorption. Use the Hone & Seal approach to create a stronger surface profile before sealing.

Water fully absorbed into porous concrete

Porous Slab

Water vanishes under 15 seconds

The slab is open and absorbs fast. Use the Grind & Seal approach before building your protective finish.

System 1 · Tight / Non-Porous Slabs

Clean & Seal

For concrete that is already tight and does not require grinding or a newly created surface profile.

Remember: If it's clean, it will bond.
  1. Preparation: Clean the surface thoroughly. Do not remove the tight top layer of the concrete.(if avoidable)
  2. The Bond: Mix BallistiX Advanced by adding Part A into Part B.
  3. Step 3 — DILUTION: Dilute Advanced 50/50 with water for both the first and second coats to improve penetration on the tight surface.
  4. Application: Apply with a pump sprayer and microfiber mop.
  5. Wait Time: Allow 30-60 minutes between coats, or until the surface is dry enough to walk on.
  6. The Shield: Apply BallistiX Black Label with a pump sprayer and mop to create the mirror finish.
System 2 · Semi-Porous Slabs

Hone & Seal

A middle-ground approach for slabs that absorb some water but remain relatively tight.

Remember: If it's clean, it will bond.
  1. Preparation: Lightly hone with a floor machine or fine diamond pad to open the surface slightly.
  2. The Bond: Mix BallistiX Advanced according to the product directions.
  3. Step 3 — DILUTION: Apply the first coat at full strength and the second coat diluted 50/50 with water.
  4. Application: Apply with a pump sprayer and microfiber mop.
  5. Wait Time: Allow 30-60 minutes between coats.
  6. The Shield: Apply BallistiX Black Label with a pump sprayer and mop for high-gloss protection.
System 3 · Porous Slabs

Grind & Seal

For slabs ground beyond the tight top layer and into the aggregate, creating a highly porous surface.

Remember: If it's clean, it will bond.
  1. Preparation: Grind to remove the top layer and expose aggregate, then clean the floor completely.
  2. The Bond: Mix BallistiX Advanced according to the product directions.
  3. Step 3 — DILUTION: For highly porous floors, apply without dilution so the material can build a barrier or "false bottom."
  4. Alternate Approach: Where appropriate, use a first coat of 75% Advanced / 25% water followed by a full-strength second coat.
  5. Application: Apply one to two coats with a pump sprayer and microfiber mop, waiting 30-60 minutes between coats.
  6. The Shield: Finish with BallistiX Black Label applied by pump sprayer and mop.
Remember: If it's clean, it will bond.
